How HPU helped you get there: “HPU helped me prepare for this job mainly through experiential learning. First, through fine dining options on campus. At my interview for this job we had lunches and dinners with executives at Boeing — 1924 Prime and Alo really helped me know how to act at a business dinner. Secondly, HPU was very welcoming with internships for credit, which I utilized one summer at Pratt and Whitney, an RTX business. This experience helped me understand how aerospace and defense contractors’ work. Through that internship for credit, I utilized tools I had learned in Accounting Information System’s (AIS) as well as Corporate Finance.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at HPU has been Dr. Premalata Sundaram, associate professor of accounting. Dr. Sundaram was the professor who always pushed me to do better in any class or any internship I had. She was also the one who introduced me to finance and accounting. She has always been someone I can go to whether it be school related or personal.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment would have to be meeting my lifelong friends during my freshman into sophomore year as well as being elected Senior Class Treasurer of the Student Government Association.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “Walking around a perfectly manicured, beautiful campus like HPU, you set higher standards for yourself, which in my case helped me always be the best version of myself.”
Did any portion of your job interview include a dining component? If so, did you feel prepared? “Yes, we had two days’ worth of lunches and dinners with employees from Boeing and the fine-dining labs helped teach me how to eat and act in a business setting.”
How did the Office of Career & Professional Development contribute to your success? “The Office of Career & Professional Development helped contribute to my success by giving me resume help freshman year, as well as help with creating my LinkedIn profile.”
What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation? “God. Family. Country. Those HPU values helped ground me during my interview and post-interview process with Boeing. Understanding that all three come above and before any job. Knowing where you came from, both family and country, as well as my faith, will be something I will never forget after graduation.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Get involved and get involved early. It changed my entire college career for the better and I wouldn’t change that for any other college experience.”
