HIGH POINT, N.C., March 13, 2026 – High Point University invites the community to attend a conversation with HPU President Nido Qubein and English historian and journalist Andrew Roberts, Baron Roberts of Belgravia, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, in Congdon Hall.
The event is free and open to the public, but seats are limited. To attend, community members must register at www.highpoint.edu/andrew-roberts by Wednesday, March 18.
Lord Roberts serves as a member of the House of Lords, the upper house of the United Kingdom’s Parliament, in addition to being a historian and journalist who has published 20 books that have been translated into 28 languages. His books include the New York Times bestseller “Churchill: Walking with Destiny,” a biography of the late United Kingdom Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The Wall Street Journal named it one of the best books of 2018.
Lord Roberts serves as the Bonnie and Tom McCloskey Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. He has delivered a lecture at the White House and spoken at such prestigious institutions as Princeton, Yale, the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. He is also a regular commentator on TV and radio, offering expert commentary about historical events.
“Lord Andrew Roberts is a distinguished lecturer and one of the world’s foremost scholars on Winston Churchill,” Dr. Qubein said. “I’m excited for students and community members to learn from his knowledge of modern history and his deep understanding of some of the greatest leaders in history.”
Over the years, Dr. Qubein has hosted sit-down conversations with many political figures on HPU’s campus. More than 1,000 students and community members were in attendance in February of last year when he interviewed former United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena and Conference Center. He also sat down with former Ohio Governor John Kasich, who twice ran for U.S. President, during HPU’s Spring Family Weekend on Feb. 7.
