Post-graduation plans: Natalie has recently accepted a position as an Event Planning & Marketing Coordinator with All About Events in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In this role, she’ll help plan and execute weddings and corporate events while also managing social media marketing and content creation for the company. Natalie’s responsibilities include coordinating vendors, assisting with event design, creating digital content and supporting event execution from concept to completion.

How HPU helped you get there: “HPU provided me with hands-on opportunities and professional experiences that helped me discover my passion for event planning and marketing. Through internships, leadership roles and networking opportunities, I gained real-world skills and confidence that prepared me to enter the events industry after graduation. The university’s emphasis on professional development helped me turn classroom learning into practical career experience.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Two of the most impactful mentors during my time at HPU were my advisor, Dr. Jessica Wiitala, assistant professor of event management and Dr. Matthew Jenkins, assistant professor of the practice of strategic communication. Dr. Wiitala supported my interest in the events industry and encouraged me to pursue opportunities that helped prepare me for my career, while Dr. Jenkins helped me strengthen my creativity and skills in social media marketing. Their guidance, support and investment in their students made a lasting impact on my academic and professional journey.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “One of the most impactful aspects of my time at HPU were the relationships I built with my professors. They truly care about their students and make an effort to know each person individually, which creates a very supportive learning environment. Their mentorship and encouragement helped shape my confidence and prepared me to step into my career after graduation.”

How did the Office of Career & Professional Development contribute to your success? “During my time at HPU, I used the Office of Career & Professional Development to strengthen my resume, improve my LinkedIn profile and prepare for interviews. Their career resources and guidance helped me present my experiences confidently and professionally when applying for internships and post-graduate opportunities. Their support played an important role in helping me feel prepared to secure a position after graduation.”

Advice for underclassmen: “My advice for underclassmen is to take advantage of every opportunity HPU offers, especially internships, networking events and leadership roles. These experiences help you discover your interests and build real-world skills before graduating. The more you put yourself out there and gain experience, the more prepared you will be!”
