HIGH POINT, N.C., May 22, 2026 – High Point University’s dining service has received an annual food service certification that allows people with allergies to dine with confidence.

“We are pleased to announce that The Heart, a station within the Slane Cafe that creates delicious meals without the Top 9 allergens, recently received its AllerCheck Certification for the fourth year in a row,” said Pete Mandala, resident district manager of Harvest Table Culinary Group. “The Heart is one of only nine AllerCheck certified stations in colleges across North Carolina. This is a great accomplishment for our Harvest Table team at High Point University.”
The AllerCheck Certification is granted by MenuTrinfo, the nation’s leading food allergy expert, after thorough inspection of the location, menus, policies and procedures by a third-party auditor.
“We (HPU Dining/Harvest Table) play a crucial role in supporting students’ overall health and wellbeing by offering a range of nutritious, balanced and inclusive dining options,” said Rachel Tucker, registered dietician. “Through fresh ingredients, diverse menu choices and clearly labeled items, students can make informed decisions that fuel both their academic success and active lifestyles. By creating a dining environment that prioritizes wellness, we contribute to a campus culture where healthy habits are accessible, sustainable and encouraged.”

HPU’s dining service won first place again last fall in an annual Dining Styles Survey of all the Aramark and Harvest Table accounts for a 16th consecutive year, Mandala said.
Harvest Table is a division of Aramark, a national food service company that surveyed more than 300 of the college campuses it serves across the nation. Approximately 250 HPU students participated in the annual survey and gave HPU’s Dining Team a nearly perfect rating for satisfaction, value and service.
In the most recent food service ratings, HPU students gave the dining program a 4.8 out of 5 stars. Students rated the overall taste of the food at 96%. The survey showed HPU’s top-rated metrics were for their flavorful food and quality program.
The Café at Slane Student Center is the most frequented on-campus dining location, according to 81% of student respondents. The Farmers Market and Chick-fil-A are the next most popular dining spots on campus with 74% and 73% of student votes, respectively.
