HIGH POINT, N.C., May 5, 2026 – High Point University invites community members to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend surrounded by the beauty of “The Splendor of Orchids: Mother Nature’s Palette” in the lobby of the Wanek School of Natural Sciences. This free event provides the public with a rare opportunity to see award-winning orchids up close.

HPU will host this nationally accredited and judged show by the Triad Orchid Society for a third consecutive year on Friday, May 8 through Sunday, May 10. Experience the incredible diversity, color and form of one of the world’s most fascinating plants. This vibrant exhibition will feature stunning displays from East Coast orchid societies to showcase the dazzling diversity of one of the largest plant families on Earth — with more than 25,000 species.

“Orchids have long captivated even casual plant enthusiasts with their remarkable adaptations, intricate relationships with insects and, of course, their out-of-this-world blooms,” said Dr. Jason Lattier, director of the Caine Conservatory. “We’re excited to invite the public into the Wanek School of Natural Sciences — the heart of our campus STEM community — to experience the splendor of orchids.”
