11 Reasons High Point University Is One of the Most Fun Campuses in the Country

Here are the top 11 ways to have fun at HPU

LPC
#1 Find Your People in Greek Life
HPU is home to 17 nationally recognized fraternities and sororities, including Alpha Chi Omega, Sigma Nu, Zeta Tau Alpha, Phi Mu and Pi Kappa Alpha. Greek organizations at HPU host the Super Hero Dash (which raises funds for children's causes), run national initiatives for wounded veterans through Operation K.A.R.E., and build the kind of friendships that outlast college. Register for fall recruitment and see where you fit.

#2 Show Up to a Campus Activities Team Event (or Five)
The Campus Activities Team (C.A.T.) keeps the calendar full all year long, and every single event is complimentary. Lip-sync battles, Paint-a-Palooza, Fall and Spring Carnivals, karaoke nights, and venture trips off campus to places like TopGolf are all on the table. Every week, there's something new happening. Check HPU Connect so you never miss a thing.

#3 Hit RecFest and Claim Your Spot on Campus
HPU REC throws RecFest every year as the official kickoff to campus fitness, and it's one of the biggest parties of the fall. A rock-climbing wall, surfboard simulators, beach volleyball, a photo booth and free food are all included. When RecFest is over, you've still got six outdoor heated pools, nine fitness facilities, four beach volleyball courts, and a full intramural sports lineup waiting. #4 Get Loud at a Panther Game
HPU's 17 Division I athletic teams compete all year, and game day at the Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena and Conference Center is an experience. The arena holds 5,000 fans, and when it's packed for Men's or Women's Basketball, you'll feel it. Show up for Panther Hype Night, find your section, and make some noise. Prowler will be there. You should be too.
HPU Family Weekend, families attend the Panther Palooza Concert in the Qubein Arena
#5 Catch a Concert at the Qubein Arena
The same arena that hosts HPU Basketball has welcomed Flo Rida, Train, T-Pain, Jesse McCartney and J. Cole to campus. When a show is announced, get your spot early. It's one of the quickest ways to realize that the Qubein Arena is a real venue, not a college gym with a stage.
club sports
#6 Join a Club Sport
HPU has 30+ Club Sports teams and more than 750 student athletes competing at the club level. Both the Men's and Women's Club Hockey teams won the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Hockey League Championships. The Esports Team claimed the Big South Overwatch Championship. The Men's Golf Team finished third at the NCCGA National Championship. Whether you want to compete at a high level or just want a team to be part of, there's a spot for you.

#7 Grab Food from a Food Truck (Every Week)
Every week, food trucks set up at a different spot on campus for what amounts to a free block party with live music. Street tacos, mac and cheese bowls, BBQ, funnel cakes. The menu rotates, the location rotates, the vibe stays good. With 20+ dining options already on campus, the food trucks are a bonus. Not a bad reason to go.

#8 Eat Your Way Through Panther Commons
Panther Commons opened up Kazoku Hibachi, Purple Pie Pizza, Barberitos Tex-Mex, and The Brunch Place all in one spot. HPU Dining is ranked #1 for best college food in North Carolina and #16 nationally by The Princeton Review for 2026. Start at Panther Commons, then work your way through the other 20+ options on campus at your own pace.

#9 Practice Fine Dining at 1924 PRIME
Most schools wait until senior year to talk about professional etiquette. HPU starts freshman year. 1924 PRIME, Alo and Kazoku serve as fine-dining learning labs where you'll practice interview etiquette and table skills over weekly dinners. Each month, a different country's cuisine takes the spotlight through the Cuisine & Culture Series, with faculty and guest speakers leading the conversation. It counts as career preparation, and the food is genuinely excellent.
Passport
#10 Explore High Point with Your HPU Passport Card
Nearly 100 local businesses in High Point accept the HPU Passport card, from restaurants and coffee shops to retail and gas stations. When you're ready to get off campus and explore High Point your card comes with you.

#11 Grab the Perfect Photo Op (and Actually Know Where to Go)
The campus has more than a few spots worth the photo. The larger-than-life HPU Letters next to Slane Student Center stand 12 feet tall and 6 feet deep in stainless steel. The Larger-Than-Life Picture Frame on the Kester International Promenade is built for wide-arm-spread moments. The Choose to be Extraordinary Wall inside the Qubein Arena is made of 6,000 photos of HPU family members.
