Post-graduation plans: Alyssa has launched her career as a Wealth Management Client Associate at Merrill Lynch, A Bank of America Company, in Charlotte, North Carolina. In this role, she provides client service to Financial Advisors, supporting their enterprise strategic objectives, operations excellence goals and client advocacy within each advisor’s business while customizing solutions based on their specific needs. Alyssa ensures timeliness, accuracy and completeness in client materials and follows up on all client and Financial Advisor requests.

How HPU helped you get there:

“HPU helped me by preparing me for anything that could come at me. I have faced many obstacles within the past year and I felt very prepared for all of them based on all the things I learned at HPU.”

“I used the Office of Career & Professional Development for support with my LinkedIn profile and resume.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?

“Being able to have a growth mindset and be able to be OK with things I wouldn’t normally is something I learned at HPU. Going out of my comfort zone to reach out for help and guidance in my career path was something that helped me exponentially in my new opportunities.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU:

“Thomas James (TJ), professor of the practice of finance, was my most impactful mentor at HPU. I took multiple classes with Professor TJ and he was always a good resource for help. Whether it was help in office hours for class or spending an hour in his office just talking about my career goals and how I can reach them, TJ was always offering a helping hand, and I cannot thank him enough for that.”

Most impactful moment at HPU:

“Meeting some of my closest friends was one of the most impactful things at HPU because I was able to surround myself with some of the best people.”

Advice for underclassmen:

“Don’t be scared to reach out to someone you wouldn’t normally think to. Taking that risk can take you somewhere you would have never imagined.”
