How HPU helped you get there:

“High Point University has played a major role in helping me get to where I am today and in preparing me for my future goals. It provided me with the resources I needed to be as successful as possible in both my academic and professional careers. One of the most impactful aspects has been my professors in the Interior Design major. They genuinely cared about my success and were always receptive to offering me help and guidance.

The small class sizes have also made a big difference, allowing me to receive one-on-one support from my professors both inside and outside the classroom. This personalized attention has helped me better understand course material and grow more confident in my abilities. Additionally, the resources available within my academic building have provided me with the tools and support necessary to be successful.”

How did you use the Office of Career & Professional Development?

“I have used the Office of Career & Professional Development several times throughout my time at HPU, including attending the Resume Bar and meeting with career advisors. They provided valuable guidance on strengthening my resume, building my portfolio and improving my LinkedIn profile. They were also a major support system during my graduate school application process, offering helpful feedback on my personal statements.”

Most impactful mentors at HPU:

“Two of my most meaningful mentors during my time at HPU have been Brandon Jones, Assistant Professor of Interior Design, and Kathryn Brandt, Instructor of Home Furnishings and Interior Design. Throughout my four years at HPU, they have consistently supported and guided me, whether it was helping with class assignments, explaining difficult material or offering advice about my future career path. They have always been approachable, encouraging and a friendly presence on campus. Their willingness to invest time in my growth has made a lasting impact, and their support has been instrumental in helping me build confidence and prepare for my next steps.”

Most impactful moment at HPU:

“My most impactful memory at High Point University has been the strong sense of community and family I found on campus. Whether it was within my major alongside my peers, in my sorority or with my close friends, I was always surrounded by people who supported and encouraged me. No matter what challenges I faced throughout my four years, I knew I had a network I could rely on. That constant support created a true family atmosphere, which has been one of the most meaningful parts of my HPU experience.”

Advice for underclassmen:

“My advice for freshmen is to take full advantage of the resources HPU offers across campus. These resources can truly make a difference in your success. Make an effort to build connections with your professors, as they are there to support and guide you. Most importantly, never be afraid to ask for help, whether it’s academically or professionally, because those moments can make a big impact on your overall experience.”
