Post-graduation plans: Emily interned at Tauck as their Graphic Design Intern in Wilton, Connecticut. As a Graphic Design Intern, she worked in various Adobe platforms such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, to design tour brochures for their various travel tours all over the seven continents. In addition, Emily also worked on a research team to design a custom tour presentation for the President, Vice President, CEO and the managers, which they would use for future strategic business decisions.

“My professors played a pivotal role in shaping me as a designer by assigning real-world client simulations, thoughtful classwork and projects, providing consistent feedback and instilling the confidence I needed to pursue the fields I am most passionate about.”

“Benita Vanwinkle, Associate Professor of Visual Arts, was my most impactful mentor at HPU. Her classes were always about more than work and projects. She taught us real-life skills, built a community with her students and always gave her all to her passion of helping others wherever needed.”

“Beyond the academics, HPU has connected me with people who will remain a part of my life forever — friends, professors, mentors and mentees who have each shaped my journey in their own way.”

What has your internship experience been like and how is it preparing you for your future?

“My internship allowed me to discover a field I truly love, while gaining invaluable insight into how a company operates. A team united in creating unforgettable travel experiences for all ages.”

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?

“Through my time at HPU, I have developed the skills, a compelling portfolio, a professional website and a strong personal brand; everything I need to confidently step into the professional field.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?

“HPU has helped me define what it truly means to be a professional. How to present myself, conduct myself and embody myself to stand out and be extraordinary. More than that, it has taught me that the world is full of possibilities and with dedication and skill, any goal is within reach.”

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation?

“To keep the good people in your corner. Surround yourself with people who will cheer you on and that support is always here whenever we need it, even when we graduate.”

Advice for underclassmen:

“Your experience here is what you make of it. The opportunities are endless, but it’s up to you to pursue them with grit and integrity.”
