Post-graduation plans: Madison has accepted a position as a Chemist I with RPM Industrial Coatings Group in Greensboro, North Carolina. In this role, she will work as an analytical chemist, focusing on product testing and failure analysis.
How did HPU help you get there?
“HPU has given me so many opportunities to grow as a person. From going to conferences to present my research, to publishing a paper, I couldn’t have done it without my professors and HPU.”

“I used the Office of Career & Professional Development for support with my resume.”
Who was your most impactful mentor at HPU?
“Dr. Keir Fogarty, associate professor of chemistry and co-director of Natural Sciences Fellows, is my academic advisor and research PI. He took me under his wing freshman year during the SuRPS program. I wouldn’t have the skills that landed me my job without him. In addition, my peers are all like-minded people; we push each other to be better every day. Without my friends, I would not be where I am today.”
What was your most impactful moment at HPU?
“Instrumental Training in General Chemistry was a program I was a part of freshman year. This program helped me discover my love for analytical chemistry and helped me get a head start on learning skills I would need in the workforce.”
What advice do you have for underclassmen?
“Believe in yourself, but don’t rush. Enjoy your time as an undergraduate. God will take you where you are meant to be.”
