“HPU helped me prepare to achieve my goals by helping me refine them and giving me tangible steps to start on the path to reach these goals. This includes help networking, developing my professional skills and building the tools to reach networkers.”

What has your internship experience been like?:

“My internship experience taught me how to communicate with a variety of people. I practiced these skills selling to clients as well as presenting to peers and superiors.”

“My research professor Brett Pexa, assistant professor of athletic training, has had the biggest impact on me as a mentor. He has routinely demonstrated the value of being thorough, thoughtful and resilient.”

Most impactful moment at HPU:

“My most impactful moment was joining Sales Club my junior year. This is important because it’s when I began surrounding myself with peers who are working toward clear goals and whose values align with my own.”

How did you use the Office of Career & Professional Development?:

“I used the Office of Career & Professional Development to organize my search looking for a summer sales internship. This included improving my resume, building a LinkedIn and using Excel files to track applications and interviews.”

What life skills did HPU help you develop?:

“HPU helped me prepare long term by developing my interview and presentation skills. Furthermore, it taught me how to be professional in a variety of different environments.”

Advice for underclassmen:

“Take advantage of all the services that High Point has to offer. If you leverage these, you are guaranteed future opportunity.”
