HIGH POINT, N.C., Sept. 3, 2026 – High Point University has again been recognized for having some of the nation’s best college dorms, this time by House Beautiful, the oldest continuously published interior design magazine in the United States.

House Beautiful released a list of eight universities whose dorms “truly stand out from the rest in the U.S.” HPU is the only North Carolina university to make the list, which includes top schools such as Harvard University, Northeastern University and the University of Miami.

The recognition from House Beautiful came only a few weeks after HPU earned Top 3 rankings from The Princeton Review for Best College Dorms, Most Beautiful Campus and Best-Run Colleges. The Princeton Review consistently ranks HPU in the Top 5 nationally for Best College Dorms. Niche.com listed HPU at #7 in its 2027 Best College Dorms in America ranking.

House Beautiful notes that HPU and the other universities on its list offer dorms that are spacious, feature high-end touches and offer views of a gorgeous campus.

“We appreciate all the recognition that we receive for providing our students with an inspiring environment where they can live, thrive and prepare to have success after graduation,” HPU President Nido Qubein said. “When parents move their students into their dorms, we want them to feel comfortable and know that we have a safe, beautiful campus that will feel like home.”

House Beautiful writes that HPU students have the option to live in Panther Commons, which is the university’s newest residence hall after opening in August of 2023. Costing $95 million, the five-story, 200,000-square-foot building features study rooms, fitness studios and several restaurants, including Kazoku, one of HPU’s immersive fine-dining learning labs.

“The rooms come with full-size beds and what’s practically a mini kitchen with a full-size refrigerator and microwave,” House Beautiful writes. “In the private bathrooms, the circular mirrors have built-in lighting, and the showers have glass doors (no risk of moldy curtains there!).”

In addition, House Beautiful mentions that HPU students can live in a small neighborhood of tiny homes on campus. Each 500-square-foot tiny home houses one student and includes a full bathroom, a galley kitchen and a living area.

As is tradition at HPU, hundreds of faculty, staff and student volunteers helped move freshmen into their residence halls prior to the first day of classes on Aug. 17. HPU’s Move-In Weekend brought approximately 22,000 people to campus and the city of High Point, creating around $7.18 million in local economic impact, according to Visit High Point.
