Internship plans: Anthony Morrow, Class of 2028, serves as a Marketing and Sales Intern at Matthews Specialty Vehicles in Greensboro, North Carolina. He supports marketing projects and helps organize the materials the sales team uses, work that has included photography and managing client logos and images. Anthony also built a proposals library organized by vehicle type and series so the team can find information more efficiently when preparing customer quotes.

“HPU has given me opportunities to apply what I learn in class to professional environments. My coursework and hands-on experiences have helped me build communication, organization and many other business skills that I use during my internship. Working with the sales and marketing professors has also helped me explore where I want to take my career.”

What has your internship experience been like?:

“My internship experience has been amazing. It has allowed me to get real hands-on experience in my career field. My co-workers have guided me throughout the past year and I am so thankful for their support and guidance. This experience is teaching me to think about being professional and continue growing for my future career.”

What values and virtues will you take with you?:

“I will take a strong work ethic, curiosity and a commitment to treating people with respect. HPU has encouraged me to meet people with different perspectives, ask questions and look for ways to contribute to society. Those habits will matter wherever I go after graduation.”

What life skills did HPU help you develop?:

“HPU has helped me become more confident communicating with others, managing my time and taking initiative. Balancing classes, many campus activities and an internship has taught me to stay organized, adapt when things change and follow through on my responsibilities even when things get difficult.”

“Philip Slater, adjunct instructor of accounting, has been one of my most impactful mentors at HPU. He has taught me how to be confident in myself and continue working hard through adversity. He always has a smile on his face and makes his class enjoyable.”

“My most impactful moment at HPU was joining my fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha. Having a brotherhood of guys around me encouraging me to do better each day is what I value the most.”

“Get involved on campus and take opportunities outside your normal comfort zone. Campus activities and job opportunities can help you tremendously as you shape your path after graduation.”
