How HPU helped you get there:
“HPU helped me get my internship because they helped me get set up and connected on LinkedIn. The Office of Career & Professional Development helped me curate my profile, and during my connection search I stumbled upon a previous HPU student who interned with FMRT before. This led me to do some research on FMRT and I was able to get my foot in the door by being proactive.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU:
“Dr. Melissa Schoenlein, assistant professor of psychology, has helped me gain research experience and has been a great advisor and a great connection who has supported me in all my endeavors at HPU.”
What values and virtues will you take with you?:
“The value of family and connection is something that HPU has taught me and I plan to take with me after graduation. You never know who might know somebody, so it is important to form connections with those around you because you never know where it might lead you.”
What life skills did HPU help you develop?:
“HPU has taught me to be persistent and that I will not reach my goals if I do not have grit. I must be proactive and work diligently every day to be where I want to be.”
Most impactful moment at HPU:
“My most impactful moment was a culmination of small wins. Getting into Social Science Fellows, becoming a treasurer for Psychology Club, gaining an internship and being accepted in Psi Chi all in one year was very impactful for me. These experiences showed me that I can truly do anything I put my mind to and that it is never too late to get involved and connected.”
Advice for underclassmen:
“Connect with everyone you meet and stay in touch. Even if you feel as if the connection is futile, it does no harm to have a point of contact.”
