The One-Year Oral Medicine and Orofacial Pain Fellowship offers dentists the opportunity to develop advanced knowledge and clinical skills in the non-surgical diagnosis and interdisciplinary management of complex conditions affecting the oral cavity, temporomandibular joints, and other orofacial pain conditions.
Clinical training provides experience evaluating and managing oral mucosal diseases, salivary gland disorders, temporomandibular disorders, neuropathic pain conditions, oral manifestations of systemic diseases, and sleep-related breathing disorders. Fellows will also participate in consultation services that support medical-dental integration for medically complex patients, including patients with autoimmune, infectious, hematologic, and neurologic conditions with oral involvement.
The educational experience combines clinical care with didactic seminars, interdisciplinary case conferences, journal reviews, predoctoral teaching, research, and scholarly activity. Dedicated scholarly time allows fellows to pursue independent or collaborative research, case reports, literature reviews, or original investigations under faculty mentorship.
