Destination: SUCCESS. Starting Point: YOU.
99% of HPU graduates are employed or continuing their education within 180 days of graduating. HPU is committed to preparing students with the tools and experience that outlast inevitable technological changes. In this series, HPU takes a deep dive into some of the students that make up that 99%.
Below, you’ll find videos of student success stories for the David S. Congdon School of Entrepreneurship. These are just a glimpse of the many HPU students who have gone on to lead lives of success and significance. Each story is different, but the theme is similar: HPU students graduate ready to take on the world as it is going to be!
Serial Entrepreneur, CEO and Founder of Lock - It
Caitie Gehlhausen Walsh, a finance and entrepreneurship major alumna from Indianapolis, Indiana, honed her entrepreneurial spirit at High Point University, where she developed several products and founded Lock-It, a phone accessory now sold in 3,000 Walmart stores nationwide. HPU provided her with invaluable resources, including mentorship from leaders like Netflix co-founder Marc Randolph, who continues to guide her journey. She also secured funding through HPU business plan competitions that helped bring her product ideas to life, giving her the resources and tenacity she needed to succeed.
Thriving at Johnson&Johnson
Just a few months after graduating from High Point University, Julia Segalla has launched a successful career as a medical device sales training representative at Johnson & Johnson in Boston, Massachusetts. As a sales and strategic communication major at HPU, she learned from a professor with over 35 years of industry experience and HPU's Sales Professional in Residence. She earned her master's degree at HPU in communication and business leadership, preparing her with the insight and confidence she needed to succeed.
Finding a Quality Career
When Jones visited, he knew HPU was the place for him because of the small classes, the receptive faculty and a TV studio that awed him. Blake came in as a Presidential Scholar and enrolled in the university’s Honors Scholar Program. He found roommates who became his friends and a beach volleyball court outside Finch Hall that became his playground.
In his first semester at HPU, Blake started working at the Survey Research Center, where students collect public opinion data. By his sophomore year, he became a student leader and University Ambassador. Today, he works at Qualtrics as a sales enablement senior specialist.
“The classes, experiential learning and professional development resources at HPU gave me the knowledge and skills to get this job. The training I received and the connections I established allowed me to secure this career.”
