Originally from El Salvador, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Universidad Centro Americana. After relocating to the United States, I served in the U.S. Army in Germany and Kansas, where I completed two Master of Arts degrees in Economics and Literature and Languages at Kansas State University. I earned a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature and a Graduate Certificate in Latin American Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, supplementing my education with coursework in Spanish linguistics and literature at Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
My academic career includes faculty appointments at in various US universities, where I contributed to service-learning and Spanish curriculum development. From 2014 until 2024, I served on the faculty at Utah Tech University in roles such as Service-Learning Director and Director of Global Education. My interests include economics, literature, international travel, and gardening.
