Ms. Christina Griffith is a Jefferson-Pilot Professor of the Practice of Accounting, and brings over 20 years of experience in General Ledger Accounting, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Internal Control as former Corporate Controller at Volvo Financial Services in Greensboro. Prior to this, she worked in Financial Analytics and Translating at Moody’s Investors Service in Charlotte. Ms. Griffith also works independently and consults clients in areas that include streamlining the monthly close of accounting operations as well as creating end-of-period financial and nonfinancial reporting and metrics. Her strength is helping managers create specific key indicators that drive profitable behaviors and effectively measure company growth.
Ms. Griffith teaches Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting II, and Audit at HPU. Prior to her service at HPU, she served as an adjunct professor at Guilford College. She also serves as a faculty advisor for internships for credit.
In addition to her professional accounting and finance industry experience, Ms. Griffith has an interest in promoting and cultivating emotional intelligence with students which she feels helps round out young professionals. She believes that hard skills coupled with open communication will help students better advocate and work well in teams. She recently completed a year-long study in emotional intelligence with current HPU students and was able to see the growth firsthand.
Ms. Griffith has served as a contributing writer with Business North Carolina Magazine. She earned a Master in Accounting degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of North Carolina. She is also the Faculty Advisor of the High Point University Accounting Club.
