Cory Gurley is a graphic design instructor and illustrator with a focus on vector illustration and layout design. His illustration work draws inspiration from folklore, mythology, and literary archetypes, and it is highly symbolic and self-reflective, often exploring complex philosophical concepts. Cory received his B.A. in Literature & International Studies from Guilford College, and began his academic career teaching English as a foreign language in Japan, where he lived for two years before returning to the United States. He continued teaching English language skills at the community college level until he changed careers to follow his passion for graphic design and design education. He worked as a freelance graphic designer, a design instructor, and an in-house designer at a large corporate law firm before returning to school to complete an M.F.A. in Graphic Design at Liberty University. He has been teaching art and graphic design for over a decade, and is currently an active illustrator, focusing primarily on personal work. He is also an aspiring board game designer with his first fully designed prototype currently undergoing beta playtesting.
