Andrew King is a native North Carolinian who was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. He attended North Carolina Central University and graduated in 2019 with a B.S. in Chemistry. Following graduation, he began graduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Zhukhovitskiy lab. As a graduate student, Andrew used organic and inorganic approaches to develop new methods for polymer synthesis and polymer backbone editing, with applications in conducting polymers and polymer sustainability.
After completing graduate school, Andrew moved to Princeton University as a postdoctoral research associate in the Chirik group. His work focused on developing new earth-abundant metal catalysts for alkene, arene, and heteroarene hydrogenation.
At High Point University, the King laboratory conducts research at the intersection of organic, inorganic, and materials chemistry. Specifically, we work on incorporating metal complexes into soft materials to access new applications for enhanced materials properties, catalysis, and responsive materials.
