Dr. David Darab serves as a Clinical Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Anesthesia at the Workman School of Dental Medicine, where he brings decades of surgical expertise, leadership, and private practice experience to the education of future dental professionals. With more than 30 years of clinical experience, he is dedicated to advancing patient care, mentoring students, and strengthening clinical training through High Point University’s commitment to experiential learning, innovation, and excellence in modern dentistry.
Dr. Darab earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Ursinus College and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He went on to complete a Master of Science in Anatomy at UT Southwestern Medical School and his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Parkland Hospital, one of the nation’s most respected surgical training programs. He is board-certified in both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Anesthesiology, with clinical interests that include office-based outpatient anesthesia and wisdom tooth surgery.
In addition to his academic role, Dr. Darab has served as managing partner at Foothills Oral Surgery, with offices in Hickory, Lincolnton, and Statesville, North Carolina, where he has led a successful surgical practice since 1991. He is also a respected leader within the profession, having served as past President of both the North Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the North Carolina Society of Dental Anesthesiology. As a business coach and strategic advisor, he is passionate about developing innovative programs that enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and clinical excellence.
At the Workman School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Darab contributes to building transformative clinical and educational experiences that prepare students to lead in oral surgery and anesthesia while delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality patient care in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
