Dr. Iquebal Hasan serves as a Clinical Professor of Oral Medicine, Oncology, and Orofacial Pain, as well as Chief of Hospital Programs and Clinical Development at the Workman School of Dental Medicine. In his role at High Point University, he is dedicated to advancing clinical education, hospital-based training, and innovative models of care that prepare future dental professionals to manage complex medical and dental conditions within interdisciplinary healthcare settings.
Dr. Hasan completed his dental education in India before moving to the United States, where he completed a General Practice Residency followed by advanced training in Oral Medicine. He also served as Co–Chief Resident at Carolinas Medical Center, an experience that shaped his longstanding interest in hospital-based Oral Medicine and complex patient care.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Hasan has held numerous academic and leadership positions, including Division Chief of Oral Diagnosis, Oral Medicine, and Oral Radiology at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry; Director of Emergency Services and Associate Professor at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine; Medical Director of the UNC Hospitals Oral Medicine Clinic; and Founding Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the Tanner College of Dental Medicine, where he played a key role in achieving initial CODA accreditation.
A nationally and internationally recognized educator, leader, and scholar, Dr. Hasan has received multiple teaching and professional awards, serves as an associate editor for a dental journal, and is a frequent invited speaker at national and international forums. His clinical and academic interests include autoimmune diseases, oral mucosal disorders, and oral oncology.
At High Point University, Dr. Hasan is focused on advancing collaborative clinical research and expanding innovative educational pathways, including the development of a Diagnostic Center for Sjögren’s Syndrome, new fellowship and residency programs, strengthened hospital partnerships, and patient-centered approaches to oral medicine and dental education.
