Makena Markert serves as the Assistant Director of Pre- and Post-Doctoral Programs at the Workman School of Dental Medicine, where she supports the development and coordination of programs that enhance the educational experience for both pre-doctoral students and post-doctoral learners. In her role, Makena works closely with faculty, staff, and residents to ensure programs run smoothly and provide meaningful opportunities for professional growth, helping advance WSDM’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and student-centered learning at High Point University.
Makena earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Gender Studies from Kenyon College and her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Management from the University of Pikeville. Her academic background and passion for healthcare education support her dedication to creating organized, engaging, and supportive learning environments for students and residents.
Outside of work, Makena enjoys staying active and spending time with her dog, Zuri, and her fiancé, Trenton. She enjoys swimming, lifting, and playing pickleball, as well as cooking, traveling, reading, and playing word games in her free time.
