Dr. Nasir Assar joined the faculty of High Point University as MBA Program Director in the fall of 2021. He also serves Associate Professor of Economics currently teaching two sections of Principles of Macroeconomics.
Dr. Assar earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from West Virginia University, an M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from Marshall University, and B.A. in Accounting from Iranian Banking College. Before joining High Point University, Dr. Assar taught at Glenville State College in West Virginia, Greensboro College, North Carolina A&T State University, and South University. His areas of concentration are Economics, Finance, Quantitative Analysis, and Business Analytics.
Dr. Assar has served as a financial advisor at prestigious firms including Allstate Financial, Waddell & Reed, Prudential, and Jackson National Life Insurance Company. He has hired and developed numerous successful financial advisors for the said companies. He holds various licenses through FINRA and State of North Carolina.
Dr. Assar is a member of Social Media Research Foundation and has been a speaker on the topic of social media and its impact on businesses, politics, policy making, etc. He has conducted seminars on subjects related to senior citizens and baby boomers dealing with issues involving financial, healthcare, and fraud challenges faced by the elderly. He has served as the Treasurer and Vice President of the ARC of High Point and is active in the autism community.
While attending Marshall University he played soccer, making it to the finals of the NCAA Southern Conference championship. He is a big fan of Dallas Cowboys, Phoenix Suns, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He follows his alma mater in their football, soccer, and basketball conferences.
In addition to his responsibilities as M.B.A. Program Director, Dr. Assar teaches two sections of Principles of Macroeconomics.
