Mr. Ferguson serves as the main point of contact for international students at High Point University and as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO), serving as the main point of contact with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to oversee matters related to immigration and student visas. He ensures institutional and student compliance with federal immigration-related regulations, interprets and creates policies, and designs programs to help acclimate HPU’s international students to life in the U.S. and on campus.

 

 

A graduate of HPU, Mr. Ferguson discovered a passion for teaching, especially within experiential education, which led him to move to China to work with college students and pursue Chinese language study. He has worked in the International Education field for the greater part of two decades and has academic and work experience in China and Thailand and travel experience in Asia and Europe. He also has experience advising U.S. students on academics abroad, international credit transfer, and intercultural skills development. Mr. Ferguson is on the Executive Board of the North Carolina Association of International Educators (NCAIE) and is an active member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators. He also serves HPU as a Title IX Advisor and Hearing Board Decision Maker.

 

 

In addition to his passion for education, Mr. Ferguson is a chef and history buff. He enjoys exploring cultures through their cuisine and by connecting their history with their present ways of life.
