Dr. Karen Lanier serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Periodontology at the Workman School of Dental Medicine, where she is dedicated to advancing periodontal education and supporting the development of future dental professionals. In her role at High Point University, she contributes to a collaborative and student-focused learning environment that emphasizes clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and lifelong learning.

 

Dr. Lanier earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Teacher Education, Master of Science in Dental Teacher Education, and Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She further advanced her expertise by completing a Master of Science in Periodontology at UNC Chapel Hill, building a strong foundation in both education and specialized clinical care.

 

Her professional interests center on periodontology and dental education, with a passion for mentoring students and fostering clinical confidence through hands-on learning experiences. Dr. Lanier is committed to preparing students to deliver thoughtful, evidence-based care within High Point University’s innovative dental education environment.

 

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Dr. Lanier enjoys spending time with people, reading, traveling, and exploring new places to dine. She also values time with horses and animals, reflecting her appreciation for nature, connection, and balance in life.
