Lisa Williams is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Interior Design at High Point University. She is currently finishing up her MFA in Interior Architecture at UNC-Greensboro. She has an MS in Textile Product Merchandising from UNC-Greensboro, a BS in Apparel and Textiles from East Carolina University, and an AAS in Interior Design from Randolph Community College.
Lisa started her career in the textile industry. She served as VP of Merchandising, Marketing and Design for two major hosiery and intimate apparel manufacturers. She worked with national retailers including Sears, JCPenney, Walmart, Nordstrom, Target, and Kohl’s. She also has experience with chain stores and the Food and Drug sectors. After about 12 years in textiles, Lisa shifted her focus to Interior Design. After completing her AAS in Interior Design, she began working with her father, who is an AIA architect in the Raleigh area. There she worked on commercial, government and multi-family projects including a Continuing Care Retirement Community. During this time, she began teaching as an adjunct professor at Randolph Community College. She also did some contract work for vendors at the IHFM, including showrooms in High Point, New York, and Atlanta.
During COVID, Lisa realized that her true passion was teaching. She went back to UNC-G for her second Master’s degree and discovered an additional passion for research. Her research interests include designing built environments to improve the wellbeing of occupants and historical preservation as a means of sustainable design.
