Christopher Foster teaches legal research and writing as well as bar-preparation courses at High Point University School of Law. He is dedicated to helping students become skilled legal writers, effective advocates, and successful members of the legal profession.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in English from Duke University, a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Harvard Law School. At the University of Iowa, he served as poetry editor of The Iowa Review. At Harvard Law School, he served as treasurer and an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
Following graduation from Harvard, Chris practiced law at Hogan & Hartson LLP (now Hogan Lovells) in Washington, D.C., and later at Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. He subsequently worked in the legal departments of GE Insurance Solutions and Honeywell International.
Chris brings to the classroom a unique combination of experience as a lawyer, editor, and writer. Drawing on backgrounds in both creative writing and legal practice, he helps students develop the clarity, precision, and analytical rigor essential to effective legal communication.
