John DeStefano

John F. DeStefano, Jr. served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Assistant Professor of Law at the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, Campbell University, where he taught Wills and Trusts, Estate Planning and Drafting, and Federal Income Tax. His scholarship focuses on trusts and estates, wealth transfer, and the political economy of private wealth planning.

In addition to his academic work, he serves as Of Counsel with BakerHostetler LLP in Washington, D.C., where he advises high-net-worth families on legacy planning, taxation, and related private wealth matters. He previously practiced in the private client services department at Proskauer Rose LLP and has prior experience with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Professor DeStefano earned his B.S. in Finance, M.S. in Finance, J.D. with a certificate in estate planning, and LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida. He is admitted to practice in Florida, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. His honors include recognition by The Best Lawyers in America as “Ones to Watch” in Washington, D.C., for Tax Law, selection as a Fellow of the Mid-Atlantic Fellows Institute of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, and pro bono service recognition from the Supreme Court of Florida. He has served on the Trusts Drafting Committee of the North Carolina General Statutes Commission.
