Dr. Louis Ruggiero, Professor of the Practice of Management, brings over three decades of distinguished healthcare industry experience to his teaching role at High Point University. As a faculty member in the MBA program, he specializes in Healthcare Management, teaching courses such as Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management in Healthcare, and Human Resources in Healthcare. Dr. Ruggiero’s goal is to bridge theory and practice, offering students practical insights drawn from his extensive leadership experience in the healthcare sector.
Dr. Ruggiero holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Interdisciplinary Leadership with a focus on Organizational Leadership from Creighton University, an MBA in Management and Marketing from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and a dual bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication and Political Science from St. John’s University, where he graduated summa cum laude. He is also certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt by GE Healthcare and holds a Corporate Governance and Board Directorship certification from UCLA.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ruggiero has held key leadership roles at prominent organizations such as CR Bard (now part of BD), GE Healthcare, Pearson Clinical Assessment, and Collagen Solutions, including positions as CEO and Board Director. His expertise spans commercial strategy, operations, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory affairs—areas that deeply inform his teaching.
In addition to his focus on healthcare management, Dr. Ruggiero has taught Venture Financing and Dilemmas and Debates in Entrepreneurship, reflecting his broad professional and academic expertise. He is dedicated to fostering an interactive, collaborative learning environment that equips students with the critical skills needed to thrive in the ever-evolving healthcare landscape.
