Bridget Holcombe, Assistant Professor of the Practice of Business Communications and Director of Career Education, joined the Earl N. Phillips School of Business in August of 2019, but she was already an integral part of HPU. Ms. Holcombe served as HPU Director of Career and Professional Development from 2013 to 2017. In that position she was instrumental in developing two ground-breaking career courses where our students begin the career exploration process much earlier in their academic careers, systematically and purposefully discovering and pursuing their professional pathways.

Ms. Holcombe embarked on her career in education after building a career as a successful sales and marketing professional for Xerox Corporation and the John H. Harland Company. These experiences made her uniquely qualified to provide career and professional advice, as well as teach students how to prepare and market themselves for their future business endeavors.

At High Point University, Ms. Holcombe teaches a set of unique career development classes: Business Career Boot Camp, which is an intensive eight-week course designed to introduce students to the foundations of business while providing the tools needed for career exploration. A second class in this set, titled Developing Your Business Career Plan, is another eight-week course designed to prepare juniors and seniors to conduct a successful internship or job search. She also teaches Business Communications and Professional Development, which emphasizes the fundamentals of communication and professionalism that are essential for success in business, with an emphasis on professionalism and presentation skills.
