Mark Mazzatenta is among the cherished few musicians to excel in both the jazz and classical worlds as performer and composer. He earned the Master of Music degree at Florida State University in 1987. In 2010, after 22 years of teaching at UNC-Greensboro, he joined the music faculty at High Point University. He has played with Mike Stern, performed concerts with Chris and Dan Brubeck, and toured China with the John Salmon Quintet. As a 2014 recipient of the Central Piedmont Regional Artists Hub Program grant, Mr Mazzatenta recorded his 4th album “Twin Imagination” with his twin brother Michael on piano. His article “What the Rubik’s Cube Taught Me About Recital Preparation” is published in the Oct/Nov 2013 American Music Teacher. In 2020 he started a YouTube channel featuring guitar instruction and performance videos.
In April 2025 Mark Mazzatenta was chosen for the “Featured Artist Video” series on Andrew York’s website. Andrew York is a Grammy winning artist who is one of today’s most successful composers for classical guitar and a performer of international stature.
