Dr. Annette Bade
Associate Dean of Clinics and Professor of Optometry

Dr. Annette Bade holds the rank of full professor and currently serves as the Associate Dean of Clinics for the High Point University School of Optometry. Dr. Bade received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry and later earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Vision Research in 2014. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Bade practiced in a variety of optometric modalities.

 

At Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Bade held academic appointments in optometric education and served in leadership roles on numerous academic and professional committees. She also served as Director of the Institutional Review Board, overseeing human subjects research compliance.

 

Dr. Bade is an active researcher. She has collaborated with faculty, residents, and students across multiple institutions on poster and paper presentations and has authored a book chapter on binocular vision abnormalities. She has also received funding for multicenter research grants at the national level.

 

Dr. Bade is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a long-standing member of the American Optometric Association and the International Association of Autism Researchers. She became a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry in 2016. Her professional interests include binocular vision, pediatric optometry, and the visual needs of individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders.

 

Proposed teaching responsibilities: Clinical teaching in primary care and ocular disease. Primary teaching in optometric clinical experience, clinical skills and clinical case analysis.
