Dr. Amarylis Wanschel is a physiologist who started her tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor at High Point University in January 2023 with expertise in vascular biology, stem cell biology, lipid metabolism, and cardiovascular inflammation. She completed postdoctoral training at New York University and the University of Miami, earning her PhD in Physiology (Molecular and Cellular Biology) from the University of Campinas in Brazil. Her research focuses on endothelial dysfunction, cardiometabolic disease, and molecular signaling pathways, with more than 36 peer-reviewed publications in these fields.
Dr. Wanschel coordinates two courses, Physiology of Wellness and Disease and Immunology, and serves on editorial boards for Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, Biomolecules, and Antioxidants. She also reviews grants for major organizations, including the NIH and the American Heart Association, integrating her extensive research expertise into teaching and mentoring future scientists and healthcare professionals.
