Megan Carr, PharmD, BCPS, BCGP is an assistant professor of clinical sciences and the director of the Geriatrics Academic Pharmacy Fellowship at High Point University’s Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy in High Point, North Carolina. She is also the director of the Lifelong Perspectives & Engagement Experience at the FWSOP, where students are paired with older adults in the community to develop professional skills throughout a five semester course series.
She graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and completed her PGY-1 and PGY-2 Geriatrics residencies and a faculty development fellowship at UPMC St. Margaret in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is board certified in both pharmacotherapy and geriatric pharmacy. She practiced as an inpatient geriatrics clinical specialist pharmacist on an Acute Care for Elders (ACE) Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts prior to transitioning to academia.
Currently, she is the clinical director of Senior Medication Care, a community-facing program that provides medication access and management services for older adults in High Point. She is a certified Senior’s Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP Counselor) and provides free unbiased Medicare counseling to older adults in the community. She was a Tideswell UCSF/AGS/ADGAP Emerging Leaders in Aging Scholar for the 2023-2024 cohort year. She is one of the current co-chairs for the Pharmacists Section of the American Geriatrics Society and is chair-elect for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Geriatrics Special Interest Group.
