Dr. Jason Pelletier is an Assistant Professor with an emphasis in neurologic patient populations. He is a board-certified neurologic clinical specialist in physical therapy (NCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists, and is a certified brain injury specialist (CBIS) through the Brain Injury Association of America. He brings years of clinical experience to the High Point faculty, working primarily in inpatient rehabilitation as part of a Level 1 trauma hospital network. He has also experience in outpatient focusing on patients with traumatic brain injuries, and as a private business owner providing physical therapy and exercise consultation for patients with Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. He is the primary course director for Neuroscience and collaborates with others to manage other neurology-focused portions of the curriculum. His research focuses primarily on implementation sciences among neurologic populations, particularly utilizing wearable and integrated biometric technologies such as smart watches to promote habits of health and wellness, and to help clinicians utilize this data in exercise prescription. Dr. Pelletier received his B.S. in kinesiology with an emphasis in movement science from Penn State University in 2012, and his Doctor of physical therapy from DeSales University in 2017. In the interim period between degrees, he worked as an assistant track and field coach at Bucknell University with an emphasis on coaching the Pole Vaulters. During this time, he also gained an Advanced Olympic Lifting Certification (AOLC) and helped facilitate the strength and conditioning programs of student-athletes across the Track and Field teams. Dr. Pelletier seeks to bring this unique expertise in collegiate athletic coaching and neurologic physical therapy to equip students to provide the highest level of care for people living with neurologic conditions through physical therapy and holistic health and wellness promotion.
