Dr. Tommy Wyatt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at HPU. He is also the Director of Rehabilitation for HPU Athletics, where he manages athletes directly in the athletic training rooms. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and health science, along with a DPT from South College. Dr. Wyatt is currently a Health Science PhD candidate at Faulkner University. He completed a Sports Physical Therapy Residency at Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC. At HPU, he teaches Interventions, a Sports Selective and conducts research through the Human Biomechanics & Physiology Lab (HBAPL). His research focuses on advancing the intervention, diagnostic, and longitudinal management capabilities of physical therapists with an emphasis on optimizing musculoskeletal healthcare in athletic populations. His work also examines the implementation and integration of physical therapists as primary care musculoskeletal providers, fusing primary care with sports physical therapy. Outside of HPU he owns a physical therapy practice in Charlotte, NC that serves as the primary care sports physical therapy provider to over 200 Professional and Division 1 athletes and consults NFL and NBA teams. He is a former Division 1 football player at Temple and Rutgers University and a Veteran of the Army National Guard. Dr. Wyatt is passionate about contributing to the profession in all 3 domains: education, research, and clinical practice. He is honored to be a part of the esteemed faculty at HPU DPT.
