Dr. Heather Vaughan, Professor of the Practice of Strategic Communication, joined the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication in 2024 first as an adjunct instructor and later as a strategic communication professor.

 

Dr. Vaughan is a career professional-turned academic with more than 20 years of combined experience in advertising, broadcast journalism, digital media, print, public relations, research, and teaching. An expert in public speaking, marketing for veterinary medicine, family communication patterns, and digital parental supplementation, Dr. Vaughan incorporates her wisdom in these areas into the classroom. She is passionate about creating a real-world environment to prepare students successfully in the professional realm.

 

In addition to her professional knowledge, Dr. Vaughan possesses a great knowledge of animals, specifically equines. She is an avid equestrian and takes great pride in owning a hobby farm, west of Winston-Salem. On the farm, she practices self-sustainable living and creates a variety of natural products for the public to enjoy.

 

Dr. Vaughan has a Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Media/News Documentary from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing from West Virginia University, and a PhD in Strategic Media from Liberty University.
