MK Campbell is a Professor of Practice in the Strategic Communication Department in the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication. She joined the faculty in August 2025, with more than 25 years of experience in strategic marketing and communications. In addition to her industry experience, MK was an adjunct professor in the Department of Communication at North Carolina State University for six years.

 

MK spent most of her career in healthcare, working with the University of Virginia Health System, UNC Rex and Duke Health Raleigh. She thoroughly enjoyed mentoring interns and new graduates during her time in the nonprofit sector and enjoys bringing her real-life experience to the classroom.

 

As a practitioner, her responsibilities ranged from event planning to serving as administrative director (VP) of strategic marketing and communications. MK worked with everything from editing a daily newsletter to overseeing the organization’s digital footprint. MK has led diverse teams and managed every aspect in the field.

 

MK is also a TEDx speaker and spent much of her career coaching and training others in communications, networking and media relations. She believes strongly in experiential learning and helping students connect theory with practice.

 

MK has two young adult children and her dog, Jake, brings her great joy.

 

MK got her BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Central Florida and her MA in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
