As Department Chair, Doug brings over 20 years’ experience teaching at High Point University.  He is a long standing member of AEA.  He teaches multiple levels of acting in the department of theatre and dance, as well as directing and performing in the production season.  Doug has directed over 20 productions during his tenure with the department.  His directing credits include Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson, Rogers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Working by Stephen Schwartz, and Periphery by Ed Simpson, These Shining Lives by Meanie Marnich, The Diary of Anne Frank by Wendy Kesselman, and The Amish Project by Jessica Dickey.  Acting credits include Pa Joad from The Grapes of Wrath, Pozzo from Waiting for Godot and Joe Keller from All My Sons 

 

Doug also enjoys nurturing and encouraging young aspiring artists and has worked extensively with the Lexington Youth Theatre directing multiple productions including Peter Pan, Beauty and The Beast, Annie, and The Sound of Music. 

 

Doug earned a Master of Fine Arts from the Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rockford University, a Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, and certification to teach the Meisner Method of Actor Training from Larry Silverberg’s True Acting Institute.
