MHA FAQs

A wide variety of high paying careers paths are available to someone with a MHA degree such as: Hospital Administrator, Hospital Vice President, Hospital Department Director, Healthcare CEO, Healthcare CFO, Nursing leadership, Physician Clinic Manager,  Clinical Chief, Health Insurance Operations Director, Medical and Health Services Manager, Nursing Home Administrator, Healthcare Consultant, and more.

Yes. The MHA program is accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and submitted an application to the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) in October 2024 for Candidacy. The application was accepted in December 2024 and the self-study year is set for January 1, 2025-January 1, 2026. All systems for the MHA degree are being set up consistent with CAHME requirements. 

Yes. Enrolled students within the MHA Program will have access throughout the program to a departmental resource page within Blackboard Ultra. Additional sessions or virtual meetings with MHA faculty and staff will be available as needed or upon request.

The student’s personal schedule and course availability will determine individual student course selection. The length of time it takes to complete the program is dependent on the number of courses a student enrolls and successfully completes in each term, and the availability of the course due to enrollment minimums being met.

High Point University uses Blackboard Ultra for online teaching and learning.

The MHA Program is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and built its competency-based curriculum in five domains including leadership, critical thinking and analysis, management, culture and community engagement and communication. Students are not allowed to transfer credits to maintain the integrity of the competency-based curriculum, anticipated student outcomes and accreditation.

Campus residency and travel is not required. All course content is completed online. However, all students are invited and encouraged to attend the hood ceremony and commencement, after completion of the Program. 

The program is currently providing an optional trip to Sweden, working with the Swedish Healthcare Academy.

No; however, the High Point University MHA program offers a course titled “Professional Development” that will help advance your career or land your first job in healthcare. 

Nothing! However, a non-refundable enrollment deposit of $250 is required to secure your place in the program.  High Point University pays all credit card fees, so the entire deposit is credited to your tuition.
