If you have experience as a brass player, woodwind player, percussionist, or with a flag/color guard team, we invite you to be a member of the Spirit of High Point University Pep Band! We are a band family that prides itself on musical excellence and building a strong community of student musicians. We have a great time representing the university at HPU athletic events and other activities on campus and in the community. As an incentive, we offer a $5,000/year scholarship to new members.

The Spirit of HPU
All band members are required to interview for a spot in the HPU Pep Band. We have playing evaluations to determine part assignments and accept most levels of brass and woodwind experience. The Panther Pulse Drum Line and Color Guard will have auditions for admission to their groups. We are looking for ways to welcome you to our community, not exclude you! Please reach out!
Our band is comprised of both music majors and non-music majors – we have nearly twenty different degree programs represented in the band. These talented students accept the challenge to support our athletic teams, promote spirit across campus, and have a lot of fun within a supportive community. Each year, nearly two-thirds or more of our band members are recognized as Millis Scholar Athletes. The Spirit of HPU Pep Band is open to all students. (Our current rehearsal schedule is Tuesday & Thursday from 6:30 – 8:30 PM).
All members are required to attend band camp in early August (specific dates will be determined by the end of the spring semester). As a member of the Spirit of HPU, you get to move into your room earlier than other students, make new friends, explore campus, and start preparing for our first performance during move-in weekend. Our band members frequently say that band camp is one of their favorite times of the year. The best part of joining the band is that you will already know lots of great students, faculty and staff before classes start. We work hard, but we also have a lot of fun! The hard work we put in during band camp makes it possible for us to rehearse only twice per week and still prepare quality entertainment.
