Hello everyone. I'm Anthony Evangelista, originally from Eastchester, New York.

I graduated from High Point University in May of 2025 with a degree in sports media.

I currently work as a video journalist and reporter for WBOC TV in Salisbury, Maryland.

What brought me to High Point University was definitely the Nido R Qubein School of Communication and the TV studio and really get hands-on experience almost right away as a freshman, allowing myself to build my portfolio, really getting practice that I don't think I would have gotten at a bigger school or anywhere else for that matter.

I would not be at the spot that I'm in today without my mentors, my professors, and the people around me.

Dr. Nick Bazelli was definitely one of my biggest mentors during my time at HPU.

He was able to help me really develop my portfolio, but he really put me on the right track to be in the position that I am today.

He helped me also on a personal level, too, where having the ability to go to a mentor like that really, really helped me in so many ways, more than I think he ever knew or I ever knew at the time.

One piece of advice that I would give to students in a similar industry or field looking to get a job is really just take advantage of the practice that you can get.

High Point University gave me so many real-world opportunities.

I was able to do pregame shows during my time at High Point.

I was able to PA announce over a 100 games.

That experience that I was able to get during my time here played a massive role in getting me to the spot that I'm at.

Graduating was really bittersweet for me because as much as I was really excited to get into a real job into the real world, I really was going to miss some of the memories that I've made here obviously and some of the friendships that I'll always keep with me.

Some of my greatest memories at HPU were right in the front row of the Cabain Center during some of our basketball games and watching our team end up going to March Madness.

Being able to be on that plane on the way to March Madness, cheering on our team and this team's going to only get better and better.

I've met so many great people here, so many friends that will be standing next to me at my wedding.

I have a brotherhood that I will absolutely never forget and will always cherish.

Whether that was through my fraternity, through IFC, through some of the numerous clubs and organizations I've been a part of, HPU Sports Link to name a couple.

HPU Sports Link is a club here on campus that's run entirely by students and they work directly with our HPU athletics to broadcast all of our D1 sports on ESPN Plus.

It's a great experience.

It's a great way to become a better communicator.

This is also a great way to meet some great people.

HPU's call to action, choose to be extraordinary, means to me, don't be afraid to put yourself out there.

There's so many opportunities here on campus where college is what you make of it.

With HPU, they give you so many different opportunities to really enhance yourself, whether that's on a social setting, whether that's in an academic setting or a professional setting.

And I'm extremely grateful for that because I wouldn't be in the spot that I am today without all three of those settings being enhanced by High Point University.
