Hi, I'm Cassandra Diaz and I'm a graduate of High Point University of the class of 2019 where I studied sport management and sales.

I'm originally from the suburbs of Illinois and now I work for the Chicago Bulls as a member of the corporate partnerships business development team.

High Point University helped me get my dream job at the Chicago Bulls.

So my role at the Chicago Bulls as an account executive of Business Development on our corporate partnerships team is to find new corporate partners for the organization, building that relationship with those individuals and then building a relationship and understanding what the needs of their businesses are and then leveraging what the Bulls can offer and just building that holistic partnership with them.

Going from the WNBA in New York City and then returning home to my hometown team of the Chicago Bulls has been really fun.

I think it's really important for students to learn how to storytell.

If you can tell a story of your why and why you selected your career path, why did you pursue the different internships and experiences you pursued and how all of that relates to what you're doing now or what you hope to do, that'll certainly set you apart.

I think here at High Point the moment we step on campus we realize that everything that the university does for us is intentional from the setup of the campus to the music that is played as you're walking to class.

Just those observations of the intentionality of the university is trickled to how I do my work.

Experiential learning at High Point University I think is what set my college experience apart from my peers that I now work with in the industry.

I made the personal goal of always having an internship during the school year and the summer while maintaining a campus job.

I was able to achieve that and really tapped into the resources the High Point University offers.

I had a lot of amazing mentors here at High Point.

Sometimes even today I'll give Dr. Luca or Dr. Hall a phone call or a text just to ask them how should I approach things in my job now.

I would say, one, if you're looking to go to a sports internship, start here and we have an excellent High Point Athletics program and with the new arena there should be plenty of opportunity to get that hands-on learning experience here on campus right off the bat.

And then also utilize all the resources that High Point offers, whether that's the office hours of your professors to build those relationships with the faculty and just get their advice on homework or the different lessons that you're going through and then utilizing the office of career and professional development is key as well.

Choosing to be extraordinary means to me just being better than you were yesterday, even if you're just doing better by five percent or ten percent.

Just ensure that you're always improving yourself every day.

I think that's the best way to choose to be extraordinary.
