My name is Gabe Williams. I'm from Mason, Michigan. I graduated from the class of 2025 from High Point University with a degree in finance and a minor in sales.

Currently, I work with Mutual Omaha as a sales representative. So, what that looks like for me this year is I do have a full year of training with my mentor Patrick Wall.

Having lined up a job months before my graduation was a huge weight off my shoulders.

I've known High Point since I was about 8 years old. I remember coming here when I was little and remember Cotrell being built, a place where I've had multiple classes.

Being able to see what High Point University has done for not only myself, but my sisters, who are all now current alumni of High Point University has been truly a blessing and was a no-brainer when it came to deciding where I wanted to go for school, as High Point University was the only place that I applied.

I would say mentorship here at High Point University is very important. When I look back at my experience, I think of two distinct things: negotiations with Larry Quinn and business communications with Steve Alberts.

Coming to High Point University, I wanted to be able to go to my professor after class and not just simply talk about material, but be able to talk about life. I remember even as a freshman or sophomore, making connections with professors that lasted 2 years even though they weren't my professor anymore.

Future students looking to get involved here at High Point University, the opportunities are truly endless. A great leadership opportunity that I had here on campus was being a part of HPRACK as a personal trainer.

It's just a massive organization for like-minded people who want to be involved in athletics and sports. I encourage you to join all sorts of organizations and truly get involved. It's the best way to find your people and find your niche here on campus.

One of the things I miss most about my time here at High Point University was walking into the slank cafeteria and seeing Miss Christy every morning at the omelet station. She always remembered my order. Five eggs over medium.

But before I could say good morning to her, she already had my eggs ready to go. Having staff here like Miss Christie really just brightens your day.

Something that resonates with me and still sticks with me today was something President Nido Qubein said is that it's okay to be disappointed but it's never okay to be discouraged in times that I didn't feel comfortable but yet made it through. It's taking that leap of faith and regardless of the outcome, keep moving forward.

When I think of High Point University's call to action, choose to be extraordinary, I think of being proud of who I am. I think of being extra of myself. I think of being authentic and being kind to everyone around me.

And I should be proud of who I am and who I've become here at High Point University.
