Hello, my name is GR Dulac, and I am a graduate of High Point University's class of 2019 with degrees in Psychology and nonprofit leadership in management.

I'm currently a consultant at Deloitte in Atlanta.

The reason I chose High Point University is because there's no other place that I feel like I really could go and make an impact that matters.

High Point is the Premier life skills University, but it's more than that. It's an actual ethos; it's a value that the university lives and allows us to live.

As students, for me, I was able to really get and gain a lot of the skills that I use now in my day-to-day life through partaking in activities at High Point.

Whether it was Alpha Phi Omega, the service fraternity, having the ability to build my service and leadership skills, having the ability to work within the student government Association, giving back to the community, helping out with special populations' dances, going to the food banks, and being able to say we have hundreds of pounds of food that we can actually give you and make a difference within the community.

Having the opportunity to chat with the president itself is unparalleled. That type of access to these innovators and people that are doing their best to help you is incredible.

High Point really gave me two main mentors that I was able to learn and grow from during my time on campus.

First, Dr. David Bergen was an incredible mentor and adviser to me in all aspects of my time here on campus, creating an environment that made it possible to explore my interests and find ways to actually take what I'm learning in class and apply those skills through internships and other opportunities on campus.

Meanwhile, my ability to work in the psychology department and grow as a student in Psychology is definitely most influenced by Dr. Greg Hunt. He was one of the first touch points I had with the psychology department and really helped me develop and understand my ability to shine and research and writing and build these skills that I still apply in my day-to-day life today.

When I think about what really helped me get to where I am today, I can't say I did it without the help of High Point's Career Services.

Being surrounded by a group of advisers who want to meet you where you're at and also help build you to where you want to be is something that I don't think you can get anywhere else.

You're surrounded by people that actually want what's best for you.

The skills that I learned at High Point University really helped put me over the edge in terms of my career and initially getting a prospective job offer. The ability to communicate, the ability to present yourself, the ability to carry the executive presence that's not typically expected of college seniors is something that's truly a differentiator.

If you walk in the room with 10 individuals from 10 different schools, I can tell you that the student from High Point University is going to be the one poised, confident, and ready to go for whatever is going to get thrown at them.

Choose to be extraordinary means exactly what it says. Being extraordinary is a choice you make. What you do in the moment—that's where your values come through. That's where the values that High Point helps instill with you come through.

If you're at a Crossroads, you can choose to be ordinary, or you can choose to be extraordinary. At the end of the day, it's up to you which choice you're going to make.
