When it comes to High Point University movein weekend, the experience is nothing short of extraordinary.

And while families are flocking to HPU from 46 states and 32 different countries, there are few sentiments they all have in common when it comes to the university.

I thought it was very exciting. You know, the excitement in the people that work here and go to school here and everyone's 100% committed to how much they are welcoming us as a family.

Everyone was so nice. It was so fun. I loved it. And then how they all like took my stuff up here for me. Like I love that. That was so nice, too. So, I have a lot of stuff.

I'm excited. I'm going to miss him terribly, but I'm really excited. I think this is a wonderful experience for him.

Move in weekend is the start of a transformational journey for these incoming freshmen and their families.

Fellow reporter Kendall McDow was able to catch up with a few and ask why choosing HPU was a no-brainer.

Thank you, Ryan. Today, I'm here with the Lat family and parents, I want to know, what's it like dropping off your child today?

Ah, we are feeling all of the emotions. I would say we're definitely excited, very excited for her and beautiful campus.

We're thrilled that she's chosen a beautiful climate, beautiful place, but more importantly, uh the life skills for us was um was really attractive and the support knowing she's not going to be just another number just felt like this was a perfect fit for her and obviously Maren felt like this was uh the ultimate college for her.

So more than half of the class of 2029 applied early decision to HPU. They found that the decision to commit to the HP family early was an easy one.

I knew the second I saw High Point that this is the place I wanted to be and that there was no doubt that I wanted to go anywhere else. So I was let's do it. Let's do the early decision. Let's get the advantages because there's no place I'd rather be.

I toured a couple colleges here and High Point just um got the vibe that I wanted and it just made me feel home.

This year, HPU welcomes its largest freshman class to date with a total new student enrollment of 1,780 and a record total enrollment of 6550 students.

Welcome home. How we doing? To welcome such a large class takes 800 excited students, faculty and staff volunteers, plenty of energy, and more than 500 cowbells.

This welcoming energy from these volunteers puts families at ease. It's just an early reminder how their student is going to be cared for and supported over the next four years.

It's scary at first. I didn't know anybody coming in. I knew one person from a different high school and I was scared at first, but as I pulled up and saw all the welcoming faces, I was like, 'Oh, this is a good place to be. This is my right at my home.' Um, I just felt welcomed and I do this because I want to make people feel that way too. Know they have a person to reach out to and make them feel super welcome.

The university was also recently named the number one bestrun college in the nation by the Princeton Review for the second consecutive year. And movein is just one standout example of why the university holds that title.

Look at this place. Look at this place. People are coming from all over the world. Parents are entrusting their children to High Point University. I wonder why. Got family country. Premier life skills, outcomes, responsiveness. The only school in North Carolina growing like we are.

People want to have their children in a university that will give them an extraordinary education in an inspiring environment with caring people.

The weekend was capped off with a favorite HPU tradition, convocation.

The ceremony welcomed new HPU students and their families for an inspiring message from HPU President Nido Qubein.

The ceremony had a blend of beauty and emotion as it marked the start of the academic year and students four-year journey.

As is tradition, an eagle soared over HPU's class of 2029 during the singing of America the Beautiful.

An inspiring way to celebrate the HPU family and its values of God, family, and country.

Students concluded the event by hugging their families goodbye outside the Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena. A sweet ending to an exciting weekend and the start of an extraordinary journey.
