Hi, my name is Julia Segalla. I graduated May of 2023 with an undergraduate degree from High Point University in sales and strategic communications. I also did the master's program in business communication leadership where I graduated May of 2024.

Currently I live in Boston, Massachusetts, back at home where I am a sales training representative for the orthopedic company of Johnson and Johnson in their sports medicine division.

I found out about High Point University when I was in about 8th grade.

My sister actually went to this school as well and had the absolute best experience. And right when I toured with her in middle school, I couldn't get it out of my head. I absolutely loved it.

I think there are so many reasons why High Point was the perfect fit for me, but one of the things that really stood out to me were the people on campus and the caring faculty and environment.

From the second that I stepped on campus, I could feel that something was different. Everyone was genuinely so happy to be here and so welcoming.

And even the student population, you can see that everyone really shares similar values of God, family, country.

I think one of the things that is so unique about High Point is the opportunity to have a mentor. I had a couple different mentors throughout my time here. One of them being Dr. Larry Quinn. He is absolutely amazing.

Before I was even a sales major, I reached out to him and asked if he had maybe 15 minutes to meet with me and tell me a little bit more about the program. And he got me in that day.

And from that moment on, I knew that that was the perfect major and career path for me because he really showed me what life could be like after graduation or what the course load was like in that type of major.

He has gone absolutely above and beyond to help me not just throughout my time at High Point University, but during graduation and beyond.

I think High Point University is so extraordinary because the education really goes beyond the textbook and beyond that traditional exam. The fine dining learning labs like 1924 Prime and Aloe and even the new Kazoku restaurant has taught me so much about fine dining etiquette.

And in my role now, it's important that we're able to dine in that way because we're dining with higherups in the company. And you want to make sure that you have all of those skills necessary to present yourself in the best light.

I absolutely love High Point in the whole community that it has to offer. I was very involved on campus.

One of my favorite parts of being a student was being on the High Point University dance team where we danced at all of the basketball games. The basketball games are so much fun in that beautiful new arena.

I was also a member of Greek life in Capadelta sorority where I met some of my best friends as well.

I absolutely loved the communication business leadership program. I thought it was so great because it was a lot of real world application. There was a lot of presentations and public speaking and how to professionally present yourself.

And I also had an on-campus job where I was a High Point University tour guide. And I loved meeting prospective students and families and telling them my story why I loved High Point University and maybe showing them how they could fit in here as well.

I think that coming in as a freshman and having all these resources literally at your fingertips is so so unique and as a freshman, you should take advantage of as many things as you can. Whether that is your access to mentorship or even alumni if you want to reach out to them.

Get involved in as many things as you can at High Point University because that's what is going to make the school feel like home to you. And this truly is my home away from home now.

I think High Point University's mantra of choose to be extraordinary really means being the best version of yourself every day. Really setting goals for yourself and achieving those goals through all of the resources that you have here. And just be motivated and be a good person. Be an active member of the community, which we do so much work for. And that's what Choose to be extraordinary means to me.
