Hi, my name is Lauren Strickler. I'm from Newberryport, Massachusetts, and I graduated High Point University in 2023 with a degree in business administration and marketing. And I'm now in Atlanta, Georgia, working for the consumer product goods company, Georgia Pacific, on our customer brands team as a brand associate.

There were so many reasons why I ultimately chose High Point University. As soon as we set foot on campus, it immediately raised the bar for every other university. And I just knew deep down that this is ultimately where I would be calling home. It was a God family school. And for me, this was extremely important.

Not only is the campus incredible and vibrant and there's music playing and it is just picture perfect, but as you learn more about why the university does what it does, from the life skills to the innovators and residents to the learning labs, it really continues to show you why High Point University is so special.

Coming onto campus my freshman year, there were so many opportunities. And one of those I knew was that Greek life was going to be an amazing opportunity for me to gain additional leadership experience.

From bid day freshman year all the way to my senior year as I wrapped up my time serving as the vice president of judicial affairs on Panhellenic, all of that time was really meaningful to me and allowed me to walk away with some great experiences.

I had the privilege of being able to serve as the president of the professional selling club my senior year here on campus.

And a part of that responsibility was being able to host Augusta National on High Point's campus as they began to recruit students from High Point to work their Masters tournament for the first time. And so for me to be able to help navigate that relationship and begin to set it up not only for our year but for years to come was a great opportunity for me.

I had the privilege to sit down and interview Russell Weiner. He is the CEO of Domino's. And to be able to sit down with an innovator in that space, talk to him, understand more about his experience was something that you do not get everywhere.

High Point has that opportunity and they want to be able to provide that to you.

The thing that I miss most about High Point University since I graduated is the faculty. One of the most influential was Professor Larry Quinn.

And he as an individual is just someone that wants to share, wants to support, and wants to be there for his students, which you don't find everywhere. And really made High Point University feel like home.

What I would tell HP students today is to just take advantage of anything and everything. Whether it is the innovators in residence, whether it is the learning labs, whether it is your faculty, your friends, your clubs, step into it with confidence and really take advantage of it.

One of the great things that High Point University really offers is that alumni networking. Whether it's HPU in the city or coming back to campus for alumni weekends, all of those opportunities to connect with business students, talk to them about what they're doing, what their passions are is something that I find a lot of fulfillment in because I know everything that High Point has given me and I really want the opportunity to be able to give it right back.

When I hear HPU's mantra, choose to be extraordinary. To me, that means showing up as yourself every single day in everything you do. It means putting your best foot forward even when it can be challenging. And that to me has been able to continue to push me not only during my four years on campus, but in my life after college as well.
