I am from Maryland and I graduated in 2018 with a major in graphic design and digital imaging and I'm currently at Disney Plus in Los Angeles as their manager of design for brand and Creative Marketing.

So what that means is that creative materials that have the Disney Plus logo on it or any type of Disney branding is sent to me for review and approval.

I also do different designs across different mediums and verticals. To give you an example, I do merch for our merch team, I do outdoor creative advertising and that's inclusive of billboards and bus shelter designs as well as designs for the in-service app on Disney Plus.

When I came to High Point University, I did not know if I wanted to be a computer science or graphic design major. After sort of dabbling in each course, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in graphic design.

I definitely have the support from my professors and even fellow peers who saw something in me in terms of creativity that I didn't see in myself, and that really gave me the confidence to pursue a career in the Arts.

When I was interviewing at Disney, the portfolio that I built at High Point really helped me to stand out.

Experiential learning is definitely a common experience for students, whether it be in the classroom or outside of the classroom.

For me as a graphic design major, the experiential learning aspect came from designing graphics. To be able to design graphics for on-campus organizations to advertise those events coming out of those organizations really helped me to create those real world projects that looked great on my portfolio and put me above other applicants when I was applying to jobs.

My senior year, my first semester, that first week I went to the campus activities fair and I signed up for everything. Although it was scary at first, I'm glad I was able to do that because I really put myself in a position to be more involved on campus and to grow as not only a leader but also a creative on campus.

During my time at High Point, I went from being a part of the go home right after school club to being president of my class my junior year and then my senior year being senior of the year.

The opportunities that I think students should take advantage of at High Point is really just being involved on campus and stepping outside of your comfort zone and going out for things that would maybe normally scare you. Apply for that job on campus, maybe apply to be a peer mentor, maybe apply to be president of a club. Just put yourself outside of your comfort zone so that you can grow and get involved as much as you can.

High Point Universities call to action choose to be extraordinary means to me stepping outside of my comfort zone and really doing things that scare me, because that always leads to growth opportunities and growing holistically as a professional.

As a result, I am truly being the very best version of myself.
